Hello again! It’s been a while since my last post, so I thought I should make this one worthwhile. I’ve stumbled across what might possibly be the most innovative and left field “improvement” made to the user interface and interaction design of the traditional 1′s and 2′s (DJ decks). Not very popular with the purists and professional DJs out there, however, although this may never take off it is nonetheless an amazing student project both brilliantly conceptualised and executed. Awesome.

Interactive Toy Blocks that think and interact with one another. David Merril is an MIT grad student working at Taco Lab. The Video from TED shows what toys in the future can do.
Mobile Mobile, a massive sculpture made of re-cycled mobile phones that plays Choir of the Bells when you tweet it. Mobile Mobile is a joyous seasonal story of “upcycling” using old phones and collaboration.
Great to see old mobile phones being brought back to life and not being dumped in landfills across the country. Beautiful work from the guys over at LBi.
A beautiful interactive installation by Jochen Winker and Stefan Kuzaj, using Processing and VVVV. The installation displays real-time graphics to create a graphical visualisation of how much water pollution a country is responsible for. I personally love the way they used a water basin to emphasize their point further.
Another brilliant augmented reality project at Siggraph 2009.
Absolutely stunning stuff! Augmented reality book at Siggraph 2009.
A big fat thank you to Leftovers and Talia Randall for helping organise Mouths Become Ears and for letting us share Dominotes with some really interesting people! To those of you couldn’t make it, cheers guys… At least now I know who my real mates are! Check out some photos and videos from the event on Flickr.

Video documentation of Dominotes at Flash On The Beach in Brighton, 2008. A big thanks to both John Davey for letting us exhibit, and to Wickaman for providing the loops.
